Tourist smears swastikas on police station on Berlin's Alexanderplatz
A tourist has smeared a police station on Alexanderplatz in Berlin-Mitte with swastikas. A security guard at a Christmas market noticed a man spraying two swastikas on the outside walls of the station on Thursday, according to the Berlin police. Together with colleagues, he detained the 25-year-old.
Officers at the police station then confiscated a spray bottle and removed the graffiti. The officers established the man's identity and ordered him to leave the scene. Further investigations were carried out by the State Office of Criminal Investigation.
The touristic attraction of Alexanderplatz became a site of disturbance as swastikas were daubed on the police station. Visitors to Berlin might be surprised to learn about such incidents happening in one of its famous landmarks. The police are now scrutinizing CCTV footage from the area to identify any other potential witnesses or suspects.
