Bundesliga - Top meets in Debut: Werder wins first test game
The new striker Keke Topp from FC Schalke 04 gave a successful debut for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. In the 2:0 (1:0) test match victory against Oberligist FC Verden 04, the 20-year-old newcomer scored the second goal for Bremen (65. minute).
The first goal was scored by Oliver Burke in the second minute. The Scot played on loan in the previous season for Birmingham City. Whether he stays at Werder this year is still open.
Born in Bremervörde, Topp played in the youth teams for Bremen and returned this summer for a transfer fee of two million Euros from Gelsenkirchen. Testmatch-opponent Verden is trained by long-time Werder striker Frank Neubarth.
