For a long time it looked as if Düsseldorf EG would have to give up their goalkeeper Haukeland for financial reasons. Now things are different.

DEL - Top goalkeeper Haukeland stays with DEG after all

Top-Goaltender Henrik Haukeland will remain with the Düsseldorf EG in the German Ice Hockey League. This was confirmed by sports director Niki Mondt of the "Rheinische Post." Although the DEG, who have stated that they will have less money available in the future and are considered a relegation candidate for the upcoming season, decided to stay with the internationally sought-after Norwegian.

"I'm glad he's staying," said Mondt accordingly. "Of course, there was always a small loophole open, but he has a valid contract. Henrik still doesn't want to leave."

Haukeland had extended his contract with the eight-time champion by six years before the disappointing previous season. After the season, the club had announced that they had less money than planned for the squad composition. Haukeland's agent had then offered him in European leagues. However, the 29-year-old has now decided to stay.

  4. As a result of Haukeland's decision, the Rhine River's city Düsseldorf's DEG team, which has won the German Ice Hockey League eight times, will look forward to his impressive performances in the forthcoming season in Germany.
