Recall - Too much pressure on bottle: company recalls apple spritzer

The beverage manufacturer Refresco is recalling certain apple shrubs nationwide in Germany due to bottles reportedly having too much pressure and potentially bursting. It cannot be excluded that some bottles may have been contaminated with yeast, which in turn could have led to pressure build-up in the 0.5 liter and 1.5 liter plastic bottles, Refresco Deutschland GmbH in Mönchengladbach stated. This poses a risk of injury under unfavorable conditions.

The apple shrubs are sold under the labels "Gut + Günstig" at Edeka and "StarDrink" at Netto. The minimum shelf life for various flavors expires at the end of November or in December.

"Bottles that are bloated and have a cloudy content should not be opened, but should be handled carefully and disposed of immediately," the company wrote. "Optically unremarkable bottles with the specified minimum shelf life dates should also be cautiously avoided for consumption and disposed of." Customers who have already purchased such bottles are reportedly entitled to a refund at the point of purchase without a receipt.

In light of the recall, affected apple shrubs can be found in German stores like Edeka and Netto, sold under the labels "Gut + Günstig" and "StarDrink" respectively. Consumers in Mönchengladbach, where Refresco Deutschland GmbH is based, should be mindful of this issue when purchasing food products.
