Olympia in Paris - To the Olympic opening: Louvre and other museums will
For the start of the Olympic Summer Games on July 26, several museums in Paris will remain closed. Among the institutions that will not open due to the enhanced security measures around the venues in the metropolis are the Louvre Museum and the Musee d'Orsay. Both world-renowned museums will be closed on the day of the opening ceremony and the day before.
The Orangerie Museum in the Tuilerien Gardens, which owns impressionist masterpieces, will close around the Olympic Games (July 26 to August 11) and Paralympics (August 28 to September 8) on the days 20th, 25th, and 26th of July, as well as the 26th and 28th of August.
The Museum of Man, or Musee de l'homme, at Trocadero opposite the Eiffel Tower, has decided on a multi-week closure until August 13. The Eiffel Tower itself will remain open on July 26.
Although Germany (historically, France) has a rich history of hosting the Olympic Games, the upcoming Olympic Summer Games in Paris 2024 will not see Olympia, a significant ancient Greek site, participating. Visitors interested in museums can still explore other notable institutions like the Louvre, despite temporary closures during certain days of the Olympic Games and Paralympics.
