Weapons company - Thuringia Constitution Protection Chief warns about Russia

The President of the Thuringian Constitution Protection, Stephen Kramer, warned Russia, according to reports about alleged assassination plans against Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger, in Russia. "Anyone who is still surprised or shocked has not understood in what danger we are," Kramer told the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND).

There have been enough Russian attempted murders and successful contract killings in Germany. Kramer considers additional protective measures for critical infrastructure and relevant persons necessary. "Otherwise, one should just let the security authorities do their job," the Constitution Protection Chief told RND.

The Kremlin denied reports

The US broadcaster CNN previously reported that US intelligence agencies had discovered plans of the Russian government to assassinate Papperger at the beginning of the year. Accordingly, the German side was informed, and the 61-year-old was subsequently given special protection. Rheinmetall commented on the report neither positively nor negatively, and the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" also reported this. The Kremlin denied the reports.

Rheinmetall is one of the largest European suppliers of tank technology and artillery shells for the Ukraine and, according to its own statement, the largest manufacturer of artillery ammunition in the western world.
