Weather - Thunderstorms threaten in North Rhine-Westphalia in the evening
In North Rhine-Westphalia, thunderstorms are threatening on Tuesday evening. "The precipitation potential is high. But whether the thunderstorms will reach us with that strength, that is still relatively uncertain," explained a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD). Initially, the DWD described strong thunderstorms in its report as "low likely."
The highest risk of thunderstorms is in the Lower Rhine and northwest of NRW, it was stated. "This will be a relatively powerful thunderstorm complex that moves in from Benelux," said the DWD meteorologist. "The sooner it comes, the stronger it will likely be." The main danger is clearly the wind. Winds of orkan-like strength are also not excluded.
According to DWD reports, however, it will be sunny and very warm in NRW on the day.
Despite the promising weather in North Rhine-Westphalia on the day, the city of Offenbach might experience an unexpected turn as the meteorologists at DWD predict a possible threat of thunderstorms from the west. The initial assessment of the DWD suggests that while the Lower Rhine region has a high risk of severe thunderstorms, the city of Offenbach, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, might also be within the reach of these storms.
