People in Thuringia should prepare for thunderstorms and possible local weather disturbances on Wednesday.

In the morning, showers and thunderstorms are expected to come from the southwest and move towards the northeast, as the German Weather Service (DWD) reports. These thunderstorms may be accompanied by heavy rain of up to 25 liters per square meter, hail, and gusty winds. Localized heavy rain of up to 30 liters per square meter cannot be ruled out, according to DWD. The risk of thunderstorms decreases throughout the day. There is a brief weather calming around noon, before new thunderstorms form from the southwest. The weather calms down from the west in the evening hours. Temperatures reach up to 29 degrees, and up to 25 degrees in the mountains.

There are still some showers and thunderstorms in the night to Thursday, but they usually subside quickly. Temperatures drop to a maximum of 14 degrees.

Thursday also brings occasional showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures up to 28 degrees, and up to 25 degrees in the mountains.

The storm forecasted by DWD for Thuringia on Wednesday includes possible thunderstorms in Erfurt and nearby areas. These weather disturbances might lead to heavy rain, hail, and strong winds, as warned by the German Weather Service. Despite the decrease in risk of thunderstorms towards the end of the day, residual showers and thunderstorms are expected in Thuringia on Thursday.
