Weather - Thunderstorms in Saxony-Anhalt - severe weather not ruled out

People in Sachsen-Anhalt should prepare for thunderstorms and possible local weather disturbances on Wednesday.

In the morning, showers and thunderstorms arrive from the southwest and move towards the northeast, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). These thunderstorms may be accompanied by heavy rain of up to 25 liters per square meter, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Localized thunderstorms with heavy rain of up to 30 liters per square meter cannot be ruled out, DWD warns. The risk of thunderstorms decreases throughout the day. A brief weather calming occurs around noon, followed by new thunderstorms forming from the southwest. The weather calms down gradually from the west in the evening hours. The highest temperatures reach up to 29 degrees, up to 26 degrees in the Harz region.

During the night leading to Thursday, there are still occasional showers and thunderstorms, which usually subside quickly. Temperatures drop to around 14 degrees.

Thunderstorms with occasional showers and temperatures up to 28 degrees are expected on Thursday, up to 25 degrees in the Harz region.

The thunderstorms predicted by the DWD for Wednesday in Sachsen-Anhalt could bring heavy rain, hail, and strong winds, potentially reaching up to 25 liters per square meter. Residents in Storm-prone areas of Saxony-Anhalt should remain vigilant during the day, as localized thunderstorms with even heavier rain are possible.
