Criminal case - Three women killed in England: suspect arrested

A well-known BBC Radio reporter's wife and both of his daughters, aged 25 and 28, were allegedly murdered. A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in the northern part of London, about 25 kilometers from the crime scene in Bushey.

The suspect was apprehended in the Enfield district, according to the police. He was reportedly attempting to hide at a cemetery, according to media reports.

The man is being treated at a clinic for injuries, the police stated, adding that he did not sustain these injuries during the arrest. The "Sun" newspaper reported that the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of one of the daughters.

Suspect had a crossbow

The BBC moderator reportedly found his 61-year-old wife and two daughters, aged 25 and 28, seriously injured at their home in Bushey, northwest of London on Tuesday evening. They died shortly thereafter at the scene. The police are treating this as a targeted attack and are searching for the 26-year-old ex-soldier with a large team.

The BBC 5 Live newsroom informed its staff in a message that they were supporting the colleague who primarily comments on equestrian sports. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has been regularly updated on the case.

The suspect is reported to have had a crossbow with him. Licenses for possessing such weapons are not strict in England. A spokesperson from the Home Office confirmed they were considering tightening the laws.

The police warned witnesses not to approach the man if they saw him. Chief Superintendent Jon Simpson added that additional weapons could have been used.

Reports of screams

A neighbor told the British Press Association that there were screams heard. Afterwards, chaos ensued, and the investigators blocked off the street.

The motives behind the incident remain unclear. "This is an incredibly serious incident for the family of the victims, and we ask that their privacy be respected while they come to terms with what has happened," Detective Superintendent Rob Hall said.
