Deployment in Mittelfranken - Three people in asylum accommodation arrested
A specialist police command unit has temporarily arrested three people at a Refugee Shelter in Mittelfranken following gunshot sounds. It is still unclear where the gunshot sounds came from and who fired them, said a police spokesperson. The suspects are now to be questioned.
The emergency call came in to the Police around lunchtime. Witnesses reported that shots had been fired from a window. Police surrounded the shelter in Uffenheim and sealed off the area. The spokesperson also reported hearing explosion-like sounds from the building.
Later in the afternoon, the police gave the all-clear on platform X. "There are no injuries. There is no danger."
According to police reports, a person left the building and surrendered themselves peacefully for arrest. Preliminary investigations indicated that two more people were in the attic. Special forces searched the shelter and took these individuals into custody.
The police were reportedly searching the building for a possible weapon. However, no such weapon had been found by late afternoon.
The incident of criminality at the refugee shelter in Mittelfranken has sparked concern in neighboring Bavaria. The SpecialOperationsCommand has been alerted and is preparing to assist in the investigation.
The refugee shelter in Middle Franconia, where the incident occurred, is not the first in Baden-Württemberg to face such emergencies.
The police have confirmed that the emergency call about gunshot sounds was not an isolated incident in asylum accommodation in the region.
The SpecialOperationsCommand is now conducting a thorough investigation into the criminality at the refugee shelter, which involves not only questioning the arrested suspects but also searching for any potential weapons or evidence.
