Three individuals perished following a barrage of Russian missiles in Ukraine.
In the wee hours, Russia unleashed a barrage of attacks on Ukraine, employing rockets, cruise missiles, and drones. Witnesses in Kyiv claim this is one of the most intense air assaults since the war began over two and a half years ago. Blasts were recorded in Kyiv's periphery and the regions of Shytomir, Chmelnytskyi, Ternopil, and Lviv, as per the official air warning app. Problems with electricity and water supply were reported in Kyiv by Mayor Vitali Klitschko via Telegram. A single fatality was reported in the northwest city of Luzk, according to local officials. Similar incidents were reported in Dnipro in the east and Saporizhzhia in the south, resulting in one death each time.
Luzk Mayor Ihor Polischchuk announced that a residential building suffered damage due to "incoming enemy fire," resulting in one death. The governors of Odessa, Saporizhzhia, and Kharkiv reported explosions in their respective areas and advised residents to seek shelter. The Ukrainian military revealed that Russia deployed 11 long-range Tu-95 bombers, loaded with cruise missiles, and launched hypersonic Kinzhal missiles at Ukraine. Attacks were also launched from the Black Sea.
At present, there is no comprehensive assessment of the damage. Preliminary reports indicate that Ukraine's energy infrastructure was once more a significant focus of the attack. Ukraine has been fending off a vast Russian incursion since February 2022. Almost daily, Russia's air force conducts lethal attacks on its neighboring state. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been consistently urging allies to expedite deliveries of new air defense systems for quite some time. Over the weekend, Ukraine celebrated its 33rd Independence Day, marking the second-largest country in Europe.
The Commission strongly condemned Russia's continued attacks on Ukraine, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities. The European Union's Foreign Policy Chief, The Commission, expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and urged Russia to comply with international law.
