Barack and Michelle Obama Back Kamala Harris, Criticize Trump

Previous U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are strongly supporting Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. At the Democratic National Convention, they commended Harris as a champion for all Americans and blasted her Republican competitor, Donald Trump. The Obamas forecasted that the contest between Harris and Trump would be tight. Moreover, Kamala's husband, Doug Emhoff, joined her on stage to show his backing.

Three Key Supporters and their Messages:

The Popular Ex-President: Harris is Prepared

Barack Obama, who served as president from 2009 to 2017 and was subsequently replaced by Trump in the White House, still holds significant influence among U.S. Democrats. Generally viewed as cool, he maintained that image during the Chicago convention where Harris was officially nominated as candidate.

Obama offered Harris his political support on the main stage and even alluded to his old slogan, "Yes, she can!", when addressing the crowd of thousands of delegates. The room erupted in chants of "Yes, she can!" instantly. Later, Obama's speech was disrupted by more "Yes, she can!" chants.

Obama highlighted that Harris is well-equipped for the role, declaring, "Kamala Harris is ready for the job." He commended Harris for her commitment to defending every American, while criticizing Trump for only fighting for his own interests. Obama referred to Trump as a 78-year-old billionaire who consistently gripes about his own predicaments. America does not require another four years of "noise, chaos, and failure" with Trump, he suggested. "America is eager for a more appealing narrative." However, he cautioned that the Harris-Trump race would be highly competitive, and the party must work harder than ever before.

The Former First Lady with Hidden Ambitions: A Sense of Optimism

Known as the world's most esteemed power couple, Barack and Michelle Obama brought a touch of glamour to the White House. Now, as successful entrepreneurs, they sell out theaters and concert halls when promoting their books. Michelle Obama is highly regarded among U.S. Democrats, with some secretly wishing she would run for presidency herself. Nevertheless, the former first lady has unequivocally stated her disinterest in politics. Instead, she has dedicated herself to campaigning for Harris - and against Trump.

Michelle celebrated Harris as "one of the most accomplished individuals to ever aim for the presidency." Michelle Obama said that there is a sense of optimism in the air. But she also underscored that the battle ahead would be demanding. She took a harsh stance against Trump, accusing him of propagating "ugly, sexist, and racist lies instead of innovative ideas and resolutions."

The Potential First Gentleman of History: "I Adore You"

Joining Obama and Michelle on stage was Harris' husband, Doug Emhoff. He voiced his support for Harris, exclaiming, "I love you so profoundly, Kamala. Let's win this thing!"

Emhoff assumed the position of Second Gentleman upon Harris becoming Vice President, making history as the first Jewish Vice President's companion in U.S. history. If Harris ascends to the presidency, he would become the Nation's first First Gentleman. Emhoff abandoned his job as a lawyer to focus on his political obligations alongside Harris. At the Chicago event, he focused on the emotional: a declaration of affection for Harris and personal tales from their relationship.

"I adore you significantly and am incredibly proud of your unwavering resolve to champion everyone," the 59-year-old told his wife, who was campaigning in the neighboring state of Wisconsin at the time. "At every juncture, when required, kamala swiftly responds." Now, the country needs her. "She will never shirk from a confrontation."

Harris and Emhoff connected later in life. A friend set them up on a blind date in 2013, and they wed the subsequent year. Emhoff is the father of two adult children from his previous marriage. They affectionately refer to Harris as "Momala." Emhoff shared his encounter with Harris. He had left her a voicemail then, which she kept and still listens to annually on their anniversary. This coming Thursday - their tenth wedding anniversary - offers him something to look forward to, as it also marks the day Harris delivers her keynote address at the party convention.

Barack Obama, during his speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, praised Kamala Harris as a prepared candidate and criticized Donald Trump for only fighting for his own interests. Michelle Obama, at the same event, commended Harris as one of the most accomplished individuals to ever aim for the presidency and accused Trump of propagating destructive lies.
