What's the weather like above Germany?
Björn Alexander shares that as storm system Tina weakens and moves towards the east over the Alps, storm system Uljana is bringing moist and freezing air from the North Sea towards the west and north of our country. The upcoming Tuesday and Wednesday will be unpredictable and far too chilly for mid-June temperatures. This is the current low point of the weather.
What's "too cold" mean?
In the northwest, it'll feel much colder than it has in recent days, with temperatures of only 13-18 degrees due to the cold front and rain expected by Monday evening. Adding to the cold, there's a powerful wind that'll be blowing stormily in the lowlands, making it feel even colder. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the coldest point with temperatures of only 12-20 degrees will be experienced throughout the country. That's approximately 5 degrees below the average mid-June temperature.
Any frost to consider?
Yes, there'll be frost. As temperatures plunge to 7-11 degrees at night on Tuesday and reach 4 degrees in the mountains, some areas might have frost on the ground. The night leading into Wednesday might also be just as cold again. People living in hollows or valleys should cover any sensitive plants in their gardens or on their balconies. This year, we'll want to experience the comfort that the sheep's fleece brings!
What's the sheep's fleece all about?
The sheep's fleece simply indicates that there's a frequent cool and changeable period in June. The statistical probability of this phenomenon occurring falls between the 4th and 25th of June, with a concentration around the 10th to 12th. It could perfectly suit this year's weather pattern.
