Seeking a TV for the European Football Championship? Stiftung Warentest shares its top picks in three size groups. The finest models surpass the 1000 euro mark, but satisfactory options start at 435 euros.

Though television sales have significantly decreased in Germany lately, the impending European Championships might trigger a modest resurgence, similar to the "summer fairytale" in 2006, as fans and pubs may seek to acquire a new television prior to the soccer spectacle. Stiftung Warentest capitalizes on the event to introduce the top-rated televisions in three price brackets.

40-50 inches

The LG OLED42C37LA earned the leading position in the small TV category, receiving a quality score of 1.8 with a superb picture and satisfactory sound. Nonetheless, this device comes at a hefty price, costing an average of 975 euros. If you're prepared to compromise a tad, the LG 43UR80006LJ is the most affordable "good" TV (2.5) priced at approximately 398 euros. Although its picture quality is just average (2.6), the sound and ease of use are standout features. If you can tolerate greater energy consumption, the Samsung GU43CU7179U (2.9) could be a compelling choice, offering a desirable picture for roughly 405 euros.

55 inches

The LG OLED55C37LA secured the title in the 55-inch section with a composite score of 1.7 and an average price of 1200 euros. Its display and sound are both excellent. The most affordable good set with a quality rating of 2.5, the LG 55UR80006LJ, retails for around 550 euros. Despite receiving a satisfactory rating (2.6) for its picture, it nevertheless excels in terms of handling and audio. If you already possess external speakers or a soundbar, the Samsung GU55CU8079U (2.9) boasts a great value, offering a decent picture for roughly 530 euros but falling short with its sound quality.

65 inches

Among the large televisions, the inexpensive "good" model (2.5/710 euros), the LG 65UR80006LJ, delivers an average picture, yet remarkable audio. The Samsung GU65CU8079U (2.8) is almost as budget-friendly, priced at 730 euros, and offers an exceptional display, albeit with a higher energy consumption. The LG OLED65C37LA and the Samsung GQ65S90CAT - both awarded a quality rating of 1.7 and excellent ratings for picture and sound - share the victory in the high-end segment. They are priced at an average of 1850 euros and 2060 euros, respectively.
