These are the best cheap TVs
You have to fork out a lot of money for the best new televisions. However, Stiftung Warentest's list also includes good, up-to-date sets for less than 700 euros, with price-performance winners starting at 1150 euros. You can get a good picture for as little as 410 euros, and real bargains can be made with older models.
Stiftung Warentest presents new televisions in three size categories that are good but cost no more than 1500 euros. The best value for money can be found in sets with 55-inch displays. If you want to get a real bargain, go for slightly older models - as long as they are still available.
65 inch
In the 65-inch class, the two best sets under 1500 euros are the Samsung GQ65Q70CAT, which is available from around 1100 euros, and the Sony KD-65X85L with prices starting at 1000 euros. Both televisions received a quality rating of 2.4 and both offer a good picture. Only the Sony delivers good sound; Samsung's competitor is only satisfactory here. The opposite is true for handling. The power consumption of both devices is satisfactory.
The Grundig 65 GUB 7240, which is available from 550 euros, is the best value for money from an older test report. It also achieved an overall score of 2.4 and Stiftung Warentest rated the picture and sound as good. The Panasonic TX-65JXW944 is even better and achieved a quality rating of 2.0. With a bit of luck, you can find it in online shops for 950 euros.
55 inch
Televisions with screen diagonals of 55 inches are particularly popular. The supply and competition are correspondingly high here, which is why customers in this size category often find high quality at low prices. The best current bargain is the LG OLED55B39LA. It costs around 1000 euros and received a strong quality rating of 1.8. The testers rated its picture as very good, its sound and handling as good and its power consumption as satisfactory.
The cheapest current 55-inch set that still received a good overall rating (2.5) is the Sony KD55X75WL, which is currently available for less than 700 euros. Picture and sound are good, handling and power consumption are satisfactory. You can get a good picture for less than 500 euros with the Samsung GU55CU8079U. However, its thin sound was only rated as sufficient. The TV's handling and power consumption are satisfactory.
Price foxes should try to get the slightly older LG 55UQ75009LF, which is available from 490 euros. Nevertheless, it achieved a quality rating of 2.5 with a good picture and good sound.
50/48 inch
In view of this price-performance ratio, it is hardly worth going for a smaller set. However, if you don't have space for a larger TV, the LG OLED48C37LA with 48-inch display is currently the best choice. Its picture is very good and the speakers deliver good sound despite its small size. Handling is also good and power consumption is satisfactory. However, with prices starting at 1070 euros, the powerful Sony is relatively expensive.
With the Samsung GU50CU719U, Stiftung Warentest also has a very affordable, good 50-inch TV in its list. Online retailers offer the TV for just under 410 euros. The picture, sound and handling are good, but it still only achieved a satisfactory overall rating of 3.2. The reason for this is its high power consumption, which Stiftung Warentest only found sufficient.
A good low-cost alternative from last year is the LG 50UQ80009LB, which is still available from some retailers for around 550 euros. The testers rated its picture and sound as good, with an overall quality rating of 2.2.
Stiftung Warentest also tests various television models in the realm of technology, providing consumers with valuable insights. If you're interested in technology tests conducted by Stiftung Warentest, visit their official website for detailed reviews and ratings.
