This has happened before, twice in the history of the European lottery featuring 19 countries. In June 2023, a winner from Schleswig-Holstein held the previous record, while in November 2022, it was a Berlin winner. The first time over 120 million euros was won was by Denmark in July 2022. Recenlty, a Norwegian player won the 120 million euro pot in January.

The grand prize of 120 million euros was reached after 11 consecutive draws without a full match in the top prize tier last Friday. Any unclaimed money in the first prize category is then added to the jackpot of the next prize level. This Tuesday, the second prize category's jackpot is sitting at 11 million euros.
