There is a high risk of severe weather again on Saturday

Last Saturday, the German football team's appearance was turned into a water adventure by the weather. It was supposed to be dry during the quarterfinals. However, at the public viewings, caution was advised in some places on Saturday.

While Claudio brought a nice day to the south as an exception, Tief Caprice and Tief Delia were scratching nerves in the north and northwest. It is windy, cloudy, and unstable. It will be even less pleasant on Saturday. Then, Tief Delia, as an unsettled low-pressure system, moves from the north into the east and south, causing lightning heat in those areas before it can lead to partial heavy rain, hail, and thunderstorms. At the North Sea, one has to deal with the next autumnal storm. Here are the details:

What is the weather like for the Public-Viewing on Friday evening? From North Rhine-Westphalia to the coasts, it is rather unsettled. Football fans should have an umbrella or better a jacket. It will not rain everywhere, the rainfall amounts are mostly manageable. In the east and south, the weather is calm and dry. As for the temperatures: At kickoff at 6:00 p.m., it is approximately 16 degrees in the northwest, a good 21 degrees in the east, and in the south and in the cities around 24 degrees. For the second kickoff at 9:00 p.m., it is cooler in the north, around 15 degrees, in the east around 18 degrees, in the west and south predominantly around 20 degrees. The trend towards midnight, of course, is declining.

Where does it storm on Saturday?

Saturdays often start with stormy weather, but it only rains at the coasts and is cloudy in the west. Over the mountains, there might be the first showers. In the course of the day, strong showers and thunderstorms develop from the west, reaching the east in the evening with thunderstorm danger. It can get very violent in the Alps. Local heavy storms are expected, perhaps even with hurricane-force winds. In addition, there is heavy rain and, especially in the southeast, hail. The North Sea has less to worry about, but gets some thunderstorms, if not even heavy thunderstorms - Autumn Summer 2024. In the east, it is up to 32 degrees, in the western mountains and the North Sea around 20 degrees, and a lot of wind.

Will it be better on Sunday?

Not for everyone, as heavy and thundery continuous rain with further thunderstorm danger falls from the Alps to Lower Bavaria. In some places, more than 50 liters in 24 hours can accumulate. In the northwest, there are individual showers or thunderstorms, but without thunderstorm danger. And elsewhere, most regions can look forward to a beautiful, sunny day. With 16 degrees at the Alps and 24 degrees in the Palatinate and Lower Lusatia, it is cooler, but the next few days bring more heat and Monday and Tuesday also a lot of sun. So there are also good weather news.

The meteorologists predict extreme weather conditions for Saturday, with lightning heat, hail, and thunderstorms affecting several areas due to the movement of Tief Delia. Given this, it's important for political leaders to prepare emergency response plans and resources to ensure public safety during such extreme weather events.

Despite the challenging weather forecast for Saturday, the Public-Viewing on Friday evening is expected to be mostly manageable, with rainfall amounts not being excessively high and temperatures remaining above 16 degrees in the northwest.
