- The weekend is going to be summery.

For the weekend, signs are pointing to summer once again: The German Weather Service (DWD) expects summery temperatures around 30 degrees. "In the coming days, high summer will knock on the door and try to dominate the whole of Germany," said DWD meteorologist Lars Kirchhübel.

On Saturday, there will be scattered showers at most in the north near the coast. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny and dry throughout the country. The highs will be 20 to 26 degrees in the north, 25 to 30 degrees in the middle, and 28 to 33 degrees in the south.

It's going to be hot next week

Sunday looks similar, according to DWD: It will be mostly sunny to cloudy in the north and northwest with occasional showers, while thunderstorms could develop at the Alps. In the south, it will be hot with 29 to 34 degrees, otherwise temperatures will range from 23 to 29 degrees.

The new week starts with plenty of sunshine. However, there could be the first showers and strong thunderstorms in the southwest later in the day. The highs in the northeast and at the North Sea will be between 23 and 28 degrees, while the rest of the country will see temperatures up to 36 degrees. And the next storms are already on the horizon.

Storms are always possible

"High pressure weather patterns have it tough this summer," said meteorologist Kirchhübel. Usually, there are longer sunny and dry periods typical for the summer months. "But this year, so far, it's mostly been unsettled and only briefly hot summer weather."

Strong, potentially stormy thunderstorms are possible again on Tuesday and Wednesday. "Then, the sunny and dry hot summer weather will quickly turn into a sultry and unpleasant weather soup that will make the body suffer." The hot temperatures are expected to depart by Thursday.

The Temperature of the hot weather in the south next week will reach up to 34 degrees. As mentioned by meteorologist Kirchhübel, this summer has been mainly unsettled, with only brief periods of typical summer heat.
