The United States expresses significant disappointment toward Netanyahu

American government is the top supplier of weaponry to Israel, but on a recent Tuesday, Israel's prime minister launched some heavy allegations against the U.S. administration regarding withheld weapon deliveries. The White House reacted, calling Netanyahu's statements "slightly shocking," "disappointing as hell," and "bloody annoying," as reported by the Communications Director of the National Security Council, John Kirby. This raises eyebrows considering that no other nation aids Israel more in defending against the threat from Hamas. "We've made our deep disappointment crystal clear to our Israeli counterparts in numerous ways," Kirby stressed.

Netanyahu took a swipe at the U.S. government on Tuesday in a video statement concerning a delayed weapons shipment, using harsh language and stirring up a ruckus with their key ally. He had previously told U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his visit to Israel that it was "unbelievable" that the government had withheld weapons and ammunition from Israel for months.

Controversy over Rafah

Blinken and other U.S. government officials had previously flatly rejected the criticism and underscored that the weapons delivery from the U.S. to Israel was merely temporarily halted. This includes the delivery of certain bombs, which were initially withheld due to worries that they might be used in a crowded area like Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

There have already been intense debates between Netanyahu and the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden over the past months. Biden and other top U.S. officials have made it plain on numerous occasions that they don't support Netanyahu's actions during the Gaza War. Criticism is mainly centered around the high number of civilian casualties and the deplorable humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
