Swabian Gmuend - The street is again partially drivable after landslide

After a landslide on a circular road between Schwäbisch Gmünd and Lorch, the road is again partially drivable. Traffic will be regulated with a traffic light, the Landratsamt Ostalbkreis announced. Due to a landslide in early June, the old Federal Road 29 and current Kreisstraße 3334 were fully closed for several weeks.

Due to the landslide, two wagons of an ICE derailed, carrying 185 passengers on board. All passengers remained unharmed.

The landslide occurred near the district road between Swabian Gmünd and Lorch, leading to concerns about potential traffic disruptions in Baden-Württemberg. To ensure safe travel, the authorities decided to manage traffic on this section using a traffic light system. Unfortunately, a similar landslide earlier in June caused the complete closure of both the old Federal Road 29 and the current Kreisstraße 3334, affecting traffic between Lorch and Schwäbisch Gmünd.
