State ministers seeking dialogue - The state government invites again to the citizen dialogue
Few weeks after the disappointing municipal and European elections for the SPD and Left party members of the State Government, they are seeking direct dialogue with the citizens once again. According to the State Chancellery, ministers and state secretaries will be present at citizen forums on July 15 and 16 all over the country. Topics for discussion have included rising energy prices, healthcare, and school situations.
Citizen forums are part of the action "State Government On Site," during which the cabinet holds one outing per year and sometimes holds meetings outside of Schwerin. The last citizen forums took place at the midpoint of the legislative period in March of the previous year. In 2022, energy policy was the focus of the dialogue rounds.
"Dialogue with citizens is very important to the State Government. We want to present the focus areas of government work, answer questions, and take suggestions into consideration," explained Minister President Manuela Schwesig (SPD) about the goals of the action. Interested citizens could register for citizen forums in their constituencies.
Dialogue offers in all regions
An event will take place in every district and every free city. Minister-President Schwerzig will answer questions in Dettmannsdorf (Vorpommern-Rügen). Education Minister Simone Oldenburg (Linke) invites to the forum in the town hall of Bützow (Landkreis Rostock). Interior Minister Christian Pegel is in the House of Guests in Rechlin (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte). Justice Minister Jacqueline Bernhardt (Linke) expects guests at the Pommernian State Museum in Greifswald, and Finance Minister Heiko Geue (SPD) in the town hall of Rostock.
In place of Wirtschaftsminister Reinhard Meyer, Staatssekretär Jochen Schulte (both SPD) will speak with the citizens about the acquisition of professional trainees at the Bildung und Technologiezentrum of the Handwerkskammer Schwerin. Agriculture Minister Till Backhaus (SPD) will answer questions in the Kloster Tempzin (Landkreis Ludwigslust-Parchim). The event in Klüt with Cultural State Secretary Susanne Bowen, who represents Minister Bettina Martin (SPD), is themed: "Books, Libraries, Education, and Encounters: Basis of Democracy". Social Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) invites to the Elbe-Gymnasium in Boizenburg (Landkreis Ludwigslust-Parchim) to debate healthcare policy.
- Despite the dissatisfying results in the recent European election and municipal elections for the SPD and the Left party in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the State Government is once again initiating direct dialogue with citizens.
- The regional government, led by Manuela Schwesig from the SPD, views citizen dialog as crucial and plans to present their focus areas, respond to questions, and consider citizen suggestions during these forums.
- During the two-day event on July 15 and 16, various government ministers and state secretaries will visit different communes across the country, including Schwerin, Rostock, Rechlin, Bützow, Greifswald, and Dettmannsdorf.
- At these citizen forums, citizens can register to participate and engage in discussions about pressing issues such as energy prices, healthcare, school situations, and even regional topics like energy policy and acquisitions of professional trainees.
- In the spirit of inclusivity, the regional government is organizing events in every district and free city, ensuring that every citizen has an opportunity to engage in dialogue with their local government representatives.
