Raids - The prohibition of 'Compact': Two objects searched in Hessen
After the ban on the right-wing extremist "Compact" magazine, the police have searched two objects in Hessen. One of these is a premises in the Landkreis Waldeck-Frankenberg and a house with two apartments in the Landkreis Gießen, in which a 53-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman live, who are active for "Compact", according to the Wiesbaden Criminal Police Office (LKA) in response to an inquiry from dpa.
Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) justifies the ban by stating that "Compact" is a "central mouthpiece for the right-wing extremist scene". According to her ministry, law enforcement agencies have been searching the premises of the organization and the homes of leading figures, the management, and shareholders in Brandenburg, Hessen, Sachsen, and Sachsen-Anhalt since early morning hours. The goal of the raid is the seizure of assets and evidence, according to a statement. In addition to "Compact", the Conspect Film GmbH was also banned, according to the LKA, a subsidiary of the magazine.
"Our constitutional state has today set a clear signal against right-wing extremism, democracy- and human hostility," shared Hessen's Interior Minister Roman Poseck (CDU) in Wiesbaden. With the ban, a breeding ground for right-wing extremist thought will be extinguished. The openly racist, antisemitic, foreigner- and constitution-hostile statements of the association should not be tolerated. "They are a fundamental violation of our value order."
