The primary digital database for organ donation registration has recorded approximately 150,000 individuals thus far.

Five months into the operationalization of the central online database for organ donation registrations, a staggering 150,000 individuals have signed up. As reported by the "Rheinische Post" and confirmed by the Federal Ministry of Health, the registry boasted 147,822 registrations as of August 21. Since its debut on March 18, about 98,000 individuals initially registered, with an additional 50,000 joining in the subsequent months.

Individuals aged 16 and above can document their post-mortem organ donation preferences on the portal www.organspende-register.de. The registration process begins with an online-enabled ID and is entirely voluntary, gratis, and editable or removable at one's leisure.

A Ministry representative briefed the newspaper on the predominantly positive feedback, with only 5.6% of users displaying reservations against organ donation. This first phase of the platform's operation sees identification via an online-enabled ID, with plans to introduce HealthID access and integration with health insurance providers in the future, the spokesperson added.

Established by the Bundestag in 2020, this registry is a cornerstone of legislation aimed at simplifying and promoting organ donation documentation. It stems from efforts to boost life-saving organ donations.

Human beings from all walks of life are employing the online portal to express their organ donation wishes. The central organ donation registry has attracted over 150,000 human beings, demonstrating a widespread interest in this important matter.
