The plot of the Swift show:
After the foiled attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna, the suspect boasted about his plan and made a confession. His lawyer now denies everything. Her client is "like a child". And with the bomb he built, he did not want to kill anyone.
In the case of the alleged attack plans on a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna, the main suspect now denies all charges. The 19-year-old is neither a follower of the Islamic State (IS) nor did he intend to attack the fans of the US superstar, his lawyer told the news agency APA.
The authorities had explained after the arrest of the young man that he had fully confessed and was boasting about his plan. Now his lawyer said her client just wanted to "be cool".
He made the explosive according to a tutorial he found on the internet. He experimented with it and might have tested it in the woods. At no point did he intend to kill people. "He says the bomb was of such poor quality, it wouldn't have worked," the lawyer explained.
"He ordered weapons on Amazon because he liked them"
Regarding the 19-year-old's possession of knives and other stabbing weapons, the lawyer said: "He ordered them on Amazon because he liked them." The 19-year-old is not a terrorist, but "like a child. Immature, clueless".
So far, it is known that the suspect had sworn allegiance to IS and recently quit his job with the announcement that "he still had great things ahead". At his arrest, knives, machetes, and explosives were found. According to the investigators, the suspect also had a flashing light with a siren. He wanted to approach the fans in his car and cause a bloodbath.
In addition to the 19-year-old with North Macedonian roots, a 17-year-old acquaintance of his is also in custody. The 17-year-old was working as a scaffolder at the Ernst-Happel Stadium, the concert venue. Furthermore, a 18-year-old Iraqi from the main suspect's circle has been remanded in custody. He was not involved in the plans, but had also sworn allegiance to IS. Due to the known terror threat, the three planned performances of the 34-year-old Swift from August 8 to 10 were cancelled by the organizer.
In contrast to the initial claims, the 19-year-old's lawyer asserts that he is not associated with any terroristic groups, like the Islamists, and his actions were not intended to harm Taylor Swift's fans. The lawyer further clarifies that the young man was merely fascinated with the weapons he purchased online.
