The Muslim Central Council labels the knife attack in Solingen as an inhumane action.
The German Muslim Central Council (ZMD) has criticized the fatal stabbing incident in Solingen, which resulted in three fatalities and left eight others injured, labeling it as an "abhorrent act". "We are left stunned and outraged by the lethal knife assault on the peaceful citizens of Solingen", the statement expressed.
The leading body viewed the incident as a "malicious and inhumane act against our liberal society". It's crucial to "uphold the principles that define our liberal, inclusive, and diverse society", the ZMD underscored. Any form of hate, incitement, extremism, or radicalism has no place in Germany, it reiterated.
The tragic incident occurred on a Friday evening during a city festival in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Solingen. A 26-year-old Syrian man, now detained, is suspected of carrying out the attack. German authorities are currently investigating him on charges of murder and membership in the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS), which has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The German Muslim Central Council strongly condemned the attack, calling it a "violation of the values that our liberal society upholds". It's imperative to "maintain unity and peace in the face of such heinous acts", the ZMD emphasized.
