New launch: Suzuki Swift 2024 - The little joker
The fourth model generation has retained its character and proportions. Thanks to the optional contrasting roof, the upcoming Swift looks less squat and sporty, but rather somewhat taller and stockier than before. Prospective buyers have no choice when it comes to the drive system, because apart from a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with mild hybrid technology, no alternative will be offered at the market launch next spring. The engine output of 61 kW / 82 hp with a maximum torque of 112 hp is manageable, as the engine has direct injection but no turbocharging. On the other hand, customers can choose between a manual five-speed gearbox or a continuously variable automatic transmission for the 3.86-meter-long front-wheel drive model, whereby the manual transmission can also be ordered as an all-wheel drive option.
The standard fuel consumption of the almost 1.1 tonne front-wheel drive vehicle is between 4.6 and 4.9 liters of premium fuel per 100 kilometers. The top speed is between 160 and 170 km/h, depending on the model, and the load volume is between 265 and 980 liters, depending on the position of the rear seats. The space inside the five-door model is largely unchanged compared to the three previous generations, which sold a total of nine million units. However, the cockpit has been redesigned and although it still uses analog round instruments, it now has a nine-inch touch display in the middle of the dashboard that can be used to operate comfort functions, navigation and the sound system. New features include assistants for lane keeping, blind spots, traffic sign recognition, reversing and adaptive cruise control.
