Ferropolis-Open-Air - The last Melt-Festival: 'We will never forget'

At the Ferropolis-Site near Dessau-Roßlau, the Melt Festival was celebrated one last time during the weekend. In this year, over 15,000 people were there, while over 500,000 have been there in the past 27 years, the organizers reported upon request. Due to increased costs, it was decided that the festival would no longer take place in the future.

"One last time to dance among the excavators of the city made of iron, to discover and enjoy fantastic music together with so many like-minded people – that meant the world to us as a team," said Festival Director Florian Czok.

Between Thursday and Saturday, 150 artists and artists stood on the Melt stages, including DJ Koze ("Pick Up"), Paula Hartmann ("Atlantis"), and the Sugababes ("Push The Button"). "I would like to thank the entire Melt crew, all the artists, and above all the visitors from the bottom of my heart – we will never forget this Melt," so Czok.

The Festival has been taking place since 1997. Since 1999, the former brown coal mining site with its decommissioned excavators has served as a backdrop. At the end of May, the festival organizers announced that this would be the last Melt of the summer. Before the Corona pandemic, visitor numbers were around 25,000.
