State Finances - The Landtag will pass the supplementary budget 2024
In the Hessian Landtag, the supplementary budget for the current year is scheduled to be passed on Thursday. In the draft budget, expenditures of approximately 39 billion Euro are planned. Due to tax shortfalls and the strengthening of the Landesbank, a new borrowing of over 2.8 billion Euro is intended. The budget draft will be voted on around 12.00 PM. Before that, parliamentarians plan to discuss housing shortage, the expansion of Autobahn 5, and education policy, among other things.
Among the other topics of the last plenary session before the summer break is a demand catalog of the FDP for economic support. According to a proposal from the opposition faction, businesses should be spared from new bureaucratic requirements for the time being.
During the discussion on various topics before the summer break, the State Parliament in Wiesbaden, Hesse, also plans to address the issue of implementing Number Work in education policy. After the budget is passed, the newly approved funds from the supplementary budget will be crucial in aiding this initiative. Additionally, the Hessian Landtag may reconsider the problem of housing shortage and explore potential solutions in light of the supplementary budget.
