The judicial system imposes probation on a former military serviceman.

A previous soldier faced legal consequences for entrenching himself in his residence with an array of weapons and explosives in January. The district court in Villingen-Schwenningen convicted the 63-year-old of obstructing law enforcement officers in a severe scenario and threatening public tranquility.

As a penalty, the court mandated one year of probation, a fine of 10,000 euros payable to the state, 100 hours of community service, and compulsory psychiatric therapy. The probation period was set at three years, necessitating the alleged offender to maintain lawfulness during this time. The defendant had previously acknowledged his actions.

The prosecution depicted the sports shooter as having fortified himself in his house in Unterkirnach, Black Forest, following an eviction notice. He allegedly threatened destruction of the property, which was no longer his property, and contemplated suicide. Consequently, neighbors were removed from the area, and heavily armed special forces were deployed.

Police discovery of weapons and munitions

As per a witnessing police officer, the house contained "numerous" weapons, explosives, and countless rounds of ammunition. Gasoline-igniting detonators were attached to the house's floor and door frames for initiation by unauthorized individuals. The standoff concluded after more than ten hours, with the defendant surrendering without resistance. During the trials, he expressed regret for his actions, acknowledging his desperate state and acknowledging his error.

The prosecution called for a one-year suspended sentence and therapy as a condition. The defense concurred with this proposal, with the indictment dropping a few initial charges due to the absence of the worst-case scenarios and the surrendering of the defendant. Nonetheless, the court amplified the sentence with additional conditions in consideration of the magnitude of response measures. The verdict remains pending.

The defendant's actions led to multiple 'judgments' against him, including convictions for obstructing law enforcement and threatening public tranquility. Furthermore, the court also imposed strict conditions for his probation, including mandatory psychiatric therapy, as they believed his actions indicated a deeper psychological issue.
