Following the apprehension of five individuals related to the demise of "Friends" actor Matthew Perry, one of the two medical professionals charged has attended court. The accused, a 54-year-old physician hailing from San Diego, is said to be contemplating a plea of guilty for providing the anesthetic ketamine to Perry. The LA judge has mandated a cease and desist from practising medicine, granted him bail, and threatened imprisonment for up to a decade.

His legal representative communicated to the media that the defendant exhibits profound regret and intends to aid the prosecution by cooperating fully. Based on the indictment, the San Diego physician allegedly peddled a substantial quantity of ketamine to a LA-based colleague through a false prescription.

Approximately mid-August, law enforcement and prosecutors brought forward serious allegations against five individuals, comprising doctors, dealers, and Perry's assistant. The prolonged investigation centred around determining how the actor procured ketamine, the levels of which were unusually high at the time of his demise. LA prosecutor Martin Estrada indicated the investigation exposed "an extensive criminal underground network". The defendants are charged with exploiting Perry's addiction to amass personal wealth.

The primary suspects involve a LA-based physician and a woman famously known as the "Ketamine Queen", both accused of trafficking significant quantities of the drug in LA's black market during the autumn season. Both have maintained their innocence in court.

Perry's assistant has confessed to his guilt in procuring and administering ketamine to Perry, disregarding medical knowledge. Facing imprisonment for up to fifteen years, the 59-year-old assistant awaits trial.

Perry, a 54-year-old, was discovered lifeless in his LA home's hot tub in October. Prior to his passing, the actor had publicly acknowledged his struggles with alcohol and drug addiction. Reports suggest that Perry underwent ketamine therapy managed by medical professionals to address depression and anxiety, and also acquired the drug through illicit channels.

Ketamine has proven efficacy as an anesthetic for decades, yet it remains an illegal recreational drug. In appropriate clinical contexts, people with treatment-resistant depression might be treated with ketamine.

The defense team stated that the physician acknowledges his actions were wrong and is willing to assist in the ongoing investigation related to the other individuals involved. Due to these allegations, the "Other medical professionals" named in the investigation could potentially face similar legal consequences.
