- The initial week of autumn exhibits a shift towards variability, remaining generally warm.
Despite the autumnal beginning, temperatures still linger warm – yet some intense storms are on the horizon. "The upcoming week grants extended periods of warm to scorching temperatures, yet also becomes increasingly unpredictable," remarked meteorologist Florian Bilgeri from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach. An incoming low pressure system from the west will pave the way for shower and thunderstorm chances. According to the meteorologist, "Monday commences with the south and west experiencing showers and thunderstorms, which then progress eastward towards the center and north on Tuesday."
Thunderstorms and torrential rain are imminent, particularly on Monday afternoon in the south and west, accompanied by frequent showers and powerful thunderstorms. In the northeast, however, expect plenty of sunshine and dryness. High temperatures will fall between 25 to 32°C, with the hottest spots in the west and southwest. The temperature will dip slightly by the coast, approximately 22°C.
On Tuesday, showers and thunderstorms will advance eastwards throughout Germany, heightening the risk of extreme storms due to heavy rainfall. From Vorpommern to southeastern Bavaria, the skies will remain clear and dry. Temperatures will stay elevated, with 25 to 30°C and up to 33°C in the east.
In anticipation of Wednesday, warm late summer weather will prevail, though showers and thunderstorms may intensify, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and hail. "During the middle of the week, temperatures will plummet significantly, particularly in the western half," reported Bilgeri. Expect temperatures to oscillate between 24°C in the Ems and Rhine regions and up to 34°C around the Spree. "However, we should anticipate mostly warm late summer weather in the latter half of the week," concluded the meteorologist.
The meteorologist's prediction of intense storms aligns with the imminence of thunderstorms and torrential rain, particularly on Monday afternoon in the south and west. As temperatures continue to linger warm, the changing weather patterns make it essential to monitor the weather closely.
