- The German military, known as Bundeswehr, has amplified security measures in its military barracks.
The German Military has beefed up security at their barracks following allegations of unwanted visitors. As reported by various sources, swift action has been taken nationwide, which includes enhanced checks on the outer perimeters of all facilities, increased night patrols, and reinforced surveillance. Superiors have encouraged their troops to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities in secured areas straight away.
Originally, "Spiegel" reported on these tightened security measures. According to their sources, the barracks were ordered to conduct thorough inspections of their fence structures for any weaknesses. Additionally, there has been a significant increase in night patrols. Commanders have urged their soldiers to stay extra vigilant for unauthorized individuals in secured zones and to report any unusual occurrences immediately.
Caught Trespassers
The Territorial Command spokesperson confirmed that, as alleged by "Spiegel", two individuals illegally scaled the fence of the naval base in Wilhelmshaven on a Wednesday last week. They were spotted by a guard and subsequently handed over to the local authorities. "Spiegel" reveled that the duo were sailors working on a nearby vessel and seemed to have a fascination with observing German naval vessels close by.
Defense Department: Minimal Security Levels Maintained
However, the ministry spokesperson cautioned that the lowest of four security levels, dubbed "Alpha", still remains in effect for Federal Armed Forces bases. Last week, the German military dismissed any potential threat to the drinking water supply system at the Cologne-Wahn air force base, declaring that no sabotage had taken place.
The German Press Agency, similarly to "Spiegel," reported about the enhanced security measures at military facilities. The German Press Agency also mentioned that the Barracks in Wilhelmshaven were ordered to conduct thorough inspections of their fence structures.
