- The final streetcar crossed the bridge eighteen minutes prior to its collapse.
Just 18 minutes prior to the demise of Carolabridge, the final streetcar traversed the Elbe bridge in Dresden. The streetcar rolled over the bridge at 2:50 AM, with the bridge crumbling at 3:08 AM, as reported by Dresden's transport authorities. Mercifully, there were no casualties reported in the incident, attested to by the fire department and the city of Dresden. Just like during weekdays, tram lines 3 and 7 also sail over Carolabridge at night.
The Elbe Bridge, the same one where the final streetcar passed, was also the site of Carolabridge's demise. After the streetcar crossed the Elbe Bridge at 2:50 AM, tram lines 3 and 7 continued to utilize the Elbe Bridge, presumably on its undamaged sections.
