The European Football Championships are anticipated to bring in an additional two million air travelers.

During the UEFA European Championship in Germany, the aviation industry is anticipating an extra two million fliers for the final scheduled on July 14th. This estimate includes both planned regular and additional flights, as per the industry association BDL. Berlin is expected to accommodate approximately 2.5 million football enthusiasts, including 1.9 million visitors hailing from over 120 countries.

Out of the 24 teams participating, 21 will be using air travel. "The EM has motivated us to put in even more work to ensure seamless operations at airports," stated Matthias von Randow, the managing director of the BDL.

The airline industry, airports, and German air traffic control have adopted various measures to cope with this event. Additional aircraft parking spots have been created, and the organization of security checkpoints has been optimized to prevent delays after the games. Airlines can also provide additional flights on a short-notice basis, depending on which teams make it to the finals.

The BDL, alongside airlines, airports, and the Federal Police, have also devised particular security plans to facilitate the movement of fans. Moreover, November 14th has been declared as a no-drone zone above the stadiums to minimize potential risks for the spectators, teams, and spectators.

To cater to the extra crowd, host city airports are making their own arrangements. "Some airports shorten the waiting time at the airport with goalkeeper challenges, and public viewing is also provided," mentioned the source. The tournament is set to kick off this Friday with Germany taking on Scotland in Munich.
