Technical Defect - The E-Roller-Battery is discharged - Five people in the hospital

Five people have been taken to a hospital with suspicion of carbon monoxide poisoning, after the battery of an E-Scooter in the basement of a multi-family house in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ignited. Neighbors noticed smoke in the house on Sunday and reported it to the emergency services, as the police stated. Response teams discovered the scooter in a basement compartment and extinguished it. The investigators assume that the battery ignited due to a defect. No material damage occurred at the multi-family house.

The incident in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, located in Upper Bavaria, has raised concerns, as it reminded locals of a similar incident last year involving a fire caused by a faulty e-bike battery. Despite the swift action of the emergency services, a rescue dog was unfortunately exposed to nicotine poisoning from discarded cigarette butts while searching for any potential victims. Thankfully, the dog is expected to make a full recovery, and the multi-family house in Bavaria continues to function normally.
