The Dreame Z30 is a strong Dyson alternative

The Dreametech Z30 is intended to be an affordable alternative to expensive corded vacuum cleaners from market leaders. In practical testing, it has proven to be a powerful cordless vacuum cleaner that leaves little behind. In addition, it offers an unusually large amount of accessories and is easy to handle.

According to Stiftung Warentest, the best cordless vacuum cleaners can match the cleaning performance of the best corded models [1]. However, the test winner from Vorwerk costs over 1300 Euro, and other good devices are usually quite expensive as well. The Dreametech Z30 starts at an unbinding price recommendation of around 600 Euro. In the practical test of ntv.de, it convinced with strong suction power, a large amount of accessories, and easy handling.

Extensive Equipment

The Dreametech Z30 comes in a pleasantly compact packaging without excessive plastic. In the box, the manufacturer has placed not only the basic device and its stand but also a wealth of accessories. Among other things, there are multifunction brushes, hard floor brushes, a motorized mini brush for upholstery, a simple and a rotating dust brush, an extension rod, a combination tool, a flexible adapter, and an extension hose. As a special feature, the manufacturer has also added a brush for removing loose pet hair directly from animals. The workmanship is of high quality throughout.

The setup is simple, and all functions are explained in a comprehensive user manual. To get started, it is sufficient to charge the battery, mount the extension rod, and attach a brush.

The Dreametech Z30 has a pistol grip, with which one can comfortably hold and maneuver the approximately 2.5 kg heavy vacuum cleaner. The battery sits directly on the grip and can be easily removed for replacement. Within reach of the thumb are two buttons, with which one can turn the device on or off and select one of the three operating modes: Eco, Automatic, or maximum power.

The stand can sadly only accept a small part of the accessories.

Clean and Simple Handling

Above the buttons is a display that shows the mode, battery charge level, degree of soiling, and the size/type of the sucked particles. The latter is interesting, but it is difficult to check how the function works. More important is that the vacuum cleaner has a HEPA-14 filter, which, according to the manufacturer, cleans the air to 99.9% purity before it is exhausted.

Below the display is the motor, on which the dust container sits. It can be detached by pressing a button, and another button opens a lid to empty it directly over the dust bin. One can also leave the container on the motor and open the lid through another button. This way, one does not get their hands dirty, and the dirt goes safely into the bin.

The dust container and its interior can be easily removed to wash them with clear water. The HEPA filter should be replaced every 4 to 6 months, according to Dreametech. However, the filter is not yet available in Dreametech's accessory shop, and similar products cost around 10 Euro.

The dustbin and its inside can be easily removed and cleaned.

On the Dream Z30 being truly powerful, ntv.de tested it on wooden floors, linoleum, and short-piled carpets with the recommended brushes. On smooth surfaces, the vacuum cleaner barely left anything behind, only larger objects were pushed forward. A shining LED light on the left side helps effectively identify uncleaned areas. The automatic mode works reliably here, and there's no reason to choose maximum power. For normal dirt, often the Eco mode is sufficient.

Not a Marathon Runner, but a Changeable Battery

This has the advantage that one can clean larger areas or apartments in one go. The battery does not last as long as the manufacturer claims, around 70-80 minutes are realistic. With maximum power, it lasts only 15-20 minutes. In automatic mode, the Z30 roughly lasts plus-minus 30 minutes depending on the level of dirt.

A completely discharged battery takes approximately four hours to charge. With an additional battery, one could double the range. However, Dream does not offer a replaceable battery in its accessory shop for the Z30. For the predecessor Z10, one had to pay around 150 Euro for it at various online dealers.

Effective on Short-piled Carpets and Under Furniture

The flexible adapter makes it easy to vacuum under low furniture.

The Z30 showed strong performance on short-piled carpeted floors and removed almost all dirt. The automatic function did not work reliably here, occasionally the Booster had to be reset to effectively remove fine coffee powder.

The multifunction brush used on carpets has two forward-facing lights to spot dirt. One can see, for example, hairs, which the rotating brush usually takes in well. Rarely does anything get tangled, which can easily be removed. Convenient: The small wheels can be removed for this purpose. The brush rolls and filters can be easily removed and washed.

With the flexible adapter, one can also vacuum under furniture with little floor clearance, and with the additional accessory, one can reach almost every corner and vacuum pillows in the apartment and in the car. The small dusting nozzles are needed at the baseboards, as the roller brushes only reach about two centimeters.

The pet hair remover could not be tested by ntv.de. However, since it functions like a normal pet brush, one can assume that the only potential problem could be the animal's disapproval. This could primarily be due to the noise of the vacuum cleaner, although the Z30 is quite quiet, as long as full power is not required.

Conclusion

With that, the Z30 is good to go.

The Dream Z30 is a good cordless vacuum cleaner with its strengths being powerful suction, a lot of accessories, and easy handling and maintenance. For 600 Euro, it is a fair price, with a little luck, one can even get it cheaper. Unfortunately, at the time of its release, neither a spare battery nor a HEPA filter were available in the accessory shop. And there are cheaper alternatives. For example, the Bosch BSS825CARP, which can be bought for around 415 Euro, is one of the best tested cordless vacuum cleaners by Stiftung Warentest.

The Dreametech Z30's impressive performance in technology-tests has been acknowledged by both ntv.de and Stiftung Warentest, with the latter recognizing compatible cordless vacuum cleaners as equals to top-tier corded models. To maintain the vacuum's peak performance, it's essential to conduct Technology-Tests on the HEPA-14 filter, ensuring its replacement every 4 to 6 months or purchasing a new one from an external source.
