The current Prime Minister of Uzbekistan holds the distinction of being the most prominent dignitary to visit the Taliban thus far.
As the highest-level international visitor so far under the Taliban rule, Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov touched down in Afghanistan. The head honcho and his entourage were greeted at Kabul airport by Taliban Vice-President Abdul Salam Hanafi and other bigwigs of the globally unacknowledged administration, as per the Commerce Ministry's declaration.
The trip was allegedly centering around bilateral ties and the broadening of economic deals between the two nations. Five accords were inked, based on the statement.
Uzbekistan and Afghanistan share a 144-kilometer boundary, and ties between the two nations have witnessed an improvement recently.
