Consumer protection - The company calls back jars with truffles inside
The Lackmann Meat and Delicatessen Factory is recalling glass jars with embedded Edible Mushrooms (Lactarius deliciosus) in Europe, due to food poisoning risk. According to the company, it involves "cut and pickled Edible Mushrooms" with the minimum shelf life date 20.05.2025, production date: 20.11.2023, EAN-Code: 4250370593657. The mushrooms were sold mainly in Russian shops, according to a company spokesperson.
Poisonous substances produced by Clostridium-botulinum-Bacteria can cause a serious food poisoning (Botulism), which can be life-threatening, warned the company. Few hours after consumption, symptoms such as beginning paralysis, blurred vision, double vision, light sensitivity, swallowing difficulties, and dry mouth may appear. Paralysis may progressively affect the respiratory and heart muscles. Early symptoms may be: headaches, diarrhea, and vomiting.
Refund of purchase price also without receipt
People who develop corresponding symptoms within 36 hours after consumption should immediately seek medical treatment and mention the suspicion of Botulism, the company advised.
Customers who bought the mushrooms can return them for a refund of the purchase price also without a receipt to the affected stores. Lackmann specializes in Russian culinary products.
