The bundle will recruit specialists from India

In the coming years, millions of skilled workers will be needed. That's why the German government now wants to recruit skilled workers from India with concrete easements. A corresponding India-skilled workers strategy is to be presented at the German-Indian government consultations in the fall.

The German government wants to recruit skilled workers from India on a large scale with concrete easements. This India-skilled workers strategy will be presented at the German-Indian government consultations in the fall, as Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil announced after a meeting with Indian students at the Free University Berlin.

"This skilled workers strategy will be worked out together with the Foreign Office and the Federal Labor Ministry, with German industry, with the states, and with other departments," Heil said. The goal is to send a "clear signal to India that smart minds and helping hands are welcome in Germany."

"We want to make it clear in a major way in a large country how it works," said the Labor Minister. "How we handle the acceleration of visa issuance, how we deal with recruitment in various fields, what tasks the economy has, what initiatives also the various federal states have." All this should be bundled.

In India live "many young people"

"India is important in this regard because it is not only the largest population in the world now, but because in India 1.5 million people come onto the labor market every month," emphasized Heil. There are many young people there.

During the exchange with Indian students, Heil pointed out that the German labor market is facing major challenges due to the demographic structure of the country. Germany needs seven million skilled workers by 2035 to meet the demand, according to SPD politician Heil, referring to a study by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB).

The students mentioned in their conversation with the Labor Minister advantages of Germany such as the German healthcare system, opportunities for better pay, and life and air quality. However, several doctoral students also expressed their concerns about prospects in science here, which they perceive as uncertain. In addition, bureaucracy and the state of digitalization were named as disadvantages.

Heil highlighted the importance of India in addressing the upcoming skilled worker shortage, given that 1.5 million people join the Indian labor market each month. This was discussed during his meeting with Indian students at the Free University Berlin. Furthermore, Hubertus Heil outlined that the strategy to recruit skilled workers from India will involve collaboration with various German departments, industries, and states.
