A man is missing - The bell rang for 90 years until the police freed him from the church
With the sound of church bells ringing, a missing person from a senior home in Apolda, Thuringen, drew the attention of the police. The 90-year-old man had not returned to the home as agreed after attending an event at the Lutheran Church on Saturday evening, according to the police report. At around 3:15 am, unusually, the church bells rang. The on-duty shift leader of the police station was surprised and immediately dispatched officers to investigate the church. They heard a male voice behind the church door. After the called-in pastor opened the church, the officers were able to bring the man back to his lodgings.
He stated that he had accidentally been locked in. After a long search, he had finally found the church bell ringer and turned on the bells.
