The BA CEO expresses criticism towards the proposed €1000 bonus for individuals receiving citizenship.
The head of the Federal Labour Agency, Andrea Nahles, shares her views on the proposed 1000-euro incentive for job seekers receiving unemployment benefits. She stated in an interview with "Wirtschaftswoche" that "we don't require this incentive to carry out our duties efficiently." Her primary wish is for politics to allow them to work without interruption.
The German federal government has announced a bonus of over 1000 euros for unemployment benefit recipients who sustain employment in a socially insured job for at least a year from January 1, 2025. However, there are also dissenting voices within the coalition parties towards this initiative.
Nahles also raised concerns regarding the potential deterioration of the labor market, particularly in the industrial sector. She emphasized, as she spoke to "Wirtschaftswoche", that this sector plays a significant role in Germany's export model and even contributes to innovations. Accordingly, she suggested, "It would be highly beneficial if the federal government comes up with a united industrial policy strategy as soon as possible."
From a labor market policy perspective, she added, "If the situation necessitates immediate intervention, then it is imperative to act without delay."
Despite Andrea Nahles' reservations about the 1000-euro incentive, the beneficiaries of this allowance could potentially see significant employment benefits. However, Nahles argues that a unified industrial policy strategy could be more beneficial for sustaining employment in the long run, particularly in the industrial sector.
