Physical Harm - Tennis player Alexander Zverev's court case comes to a halt.
The court case against German tennis star Alexander Zverev for the accusation of inflicting physical harm concluded on its third day without a verdict. The Berlin District Court-Tiergarten dismissed the proceedings on Friday with a fine. Zverev now has to pay a total sum of 200,000 euros. No verdict of guilt was reached. By accepting the payment of a fine, there is no admission of guilt. Hence, Zverev remains innocent.
In the indictment, Zverev was accused of pushing his former partner Brenda Patea against a wall and violently shaking her using both his hands during a heated dispute in May 2020.
The public prosecutor, Zverev's defense, and Patea as a co-defendant mutually agreed on this approach to end the legal battle. Both parties desired a peaceful resolution, as the court remarked.

Despite the fine imposed, Alexander Zverev's girlfriend Brenda Patea has not labeled the incident as "fine" given the bodily injury she allegedly suffered. The local court's decision allows Zverev to continue playing tennis without a conviction, as his "girlfriend" is no longer pressing charges in the case.
