- Ten years ago, a dead cub was found in Central Park. Only now do we know why.
Independent US presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has caused a stir with an unusual revelation. In a video posted on the X platform on Monday, Kennedy admitted to placing a dead bear in New York's Central Park around a decade ago. According to his account, he initially took the bear, which had been run over by a delivery truck, to utilize it.
Revelation due to planned newspaper article about Robert F. Kennedy
After dinner in New York, he reportedly left the carcass in the park and arranged the scene with an old bicycle to make it appear as if the animal had been hit by a car. Kennedy hinted that this disclosure was intended to preempt a planned publication by "The New Yorker" magazine.
Kennedy suggested that the article would be negative, and he preferred to tell his version of the story before its publication. Neither his campaign nor "The New Yorker" have responded to a Reuters request for comment.
The incident has gained renewed attention following the discovery of a dead bear cub in Central Park in 2014. The presidential candidate is a member of the same American political dynasty and is the nephew of former US President John F. Kennedy.
According to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll, he is favored by eight percent of voters and is considered a long shot. However, with every vote potentially counting in the November election, his candidacy could pose a problem for both Republican and Democratic candidates, even if he only draws a few voters away.
Despite being associated with the Kennedy family, known for former President John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s unconventional actions in Central Park decades ago have resurfaced. In response to an impending negative article in "The New Yorker" magazine, Kennedy chose to confess publicly about placing a dead bear in the park, claiming it was to prevent misinterpretation.
