Temporarily halting the activities of three environmental advocates in Sylt

Sylt, known for its lavish displays of luxury automobiles, private aircraft, and champagne, hasn't been exempt from controversy. Unsurprisingly, the recent disturbance at Sylt Airport by three individuals affiliated with The Last Generation didn't pop up out of thin air. The local authorities have now intervened in response to this event.

Following the incident at Sylt Airport, the participating activists from The Last Generation climate movement have been issued a temporary ban from the island: "A 14-day prohibition on residing on the island of Sylt has been imposed on the three individuals," stated a spokesperson for the Flensburg Police Directorate. The ban remains in effect until August 23rd.

However, this prohibition does not extend to all visitors arriving on Sylt by train, ferry, or plane. The proportionality of such widespread inspections is questionable due to the scarcity of personnel, as the spokesperson pointed out. The enforcement of the ban will be carried out during their daily presence on the island.

Post-Sylt Protest: Legal Proceedings Initiated

The Flensburg Public Prosecutor's Office is currently examining charges against the three activists associated with the alliance. They are being accused of property damage and trespassing. The exact date for the hearings has yet to be determined.

Two activists from The Last Generation had attached themselves to the ground next to a private jet at Sylt Airport on August 10th. Their attempt to paint the plane failed owing to the swift intervention of airport personnel.

A third activist was impeded at the fence by police and transported away. Both women were also extracted from the ground and transported in a police vehicle. Prior to entering the airport grounds, the activists had carved a passage through the airport fence.

The Last Generation aimed to deface the private jet with the message "Oil kills". They argue that wealthy individuals and corporations disproportionately contribute to climate change. According to them, the wealthy elite, such as private jet owners, limousine drivers, and superyacht owners, would relinquish these luxuries willingly. They believe that legislative measures are necessary to reduce their carbon footprint.

After the incident at Sylt Airport, it was revealed that The Last Generation is a climate movement with strong views on the role of wealth in climate change. The last generation has voiced its concern about wealthy individuals and corporations disproportionately contributing to climate change.

During the recent protests at Sylt Airport, The Last Generation activists aimed to deface a private jet with the message "Oil kills." However, their attempts were thwarted by airport personnel and local authorities.
