Accident - Teenage duo shares a bike and crashes - seriously injured

Two 14-year-olds sustained severe injuries in a bicycle accident in Swabia. According to the police, neither of the teenagers wore helmets and they were sharing the bicycle during their ride in Donauwörth. One of them was standing on the pedals, while the other was sitting in the saddle. They reportedly lost control of the bicycle on a slippery road on a Monday and ended up in a ditch, causing them to flip over, the police stated.

Witnesses reportedly made an emergency call. Both accident victims suffered severe head and back injuries, as per the police. The emergency services flew the teenagers to hospitals in Ingolstadt and Nuremberg using helicopters.

The accident occurred in the bustling town of Donauwörth, situated in the heart of Swabia, Bavaria. The incident led to an increase in traffic congestion as police directed the flow of vehicles around the scene. Due to the incident, discussions about road safety and the importance of wearing helmets while cycling in Swabia have gained momentum.
