- Team member discusses the final moments aboard the Bayesian.

Around fourteen days following the capsizing of the lavish yacht "Bayesian", a crew member has shared their account of the fateful night. As reported by the Italian news agency "Ansa", crew member Matthew Griffiths stated, "I roused the captain once the wind hit twenty knots." Upon being awakened, the captain then commanded everyone else to be awakened. Griffiths was among the 22 individuals aboard the luxury yacht that sank mere hundreds of meters from the Sicilian Porticello's harbor on August 19th. Regrettably, seven lives were lost in this tragedy, including the yacht's wealthy owner, Mike Lynch, and his 18-year-old daughter.

Griffiths, who was on duty during the incident, communicated with "Ansa": "The ship tilted and we were thrown into the water. Following that, we managed to resurface and attempted to save as many people as we could." Captain James Cutfield of the "Bayesian" displayed remarkable bravery during these trying times. "We were clinging to the sides (of the boat). We saved who we could." Cutfield successfully rescued a young girl and her mother. The Italian authorities are now scrutinizing both Cutfield and Griffiths, with the state prosecutor also investigating engineer Tim Parker Eaton.

The Captain of the luxury yacht "Bayesian" remains silent

As per his legal representatives, Captain Cutfield exercised his right to silence when confronted by the state prosecutor recently. They indicated that he was "drained" and required additional time to prepare his defense.

Despite the survivor testimonies that uphold Cutfield's heroic actions, the reasons behind the capsizing remain shrouded in mystery. Marine experts opine that a vessel of the "Bayesian"'s caliber, constructed by the renowned Italian manufacturer "Perini Navi", should have been capable of withstanding such a storm. Nevertheless, it should not have succumbed as swiftly as it seemingly did.

The investigators from Termini Imerese, close to Palermo, have conveyed that their probe will take some time, as the shipwreck must still be retrieved. The recovery of the vessel is estimated to cost a minimum of 17 million euros.

Despite the ongoing investigation, the luxury yacht "Bayesian," once owned by the wealthy Mike Lynch, is set to undergo a costly salvage operation. The abandoned and submerged 'Luxury yacht' will be brought back to the surface, likely by the Italian marine experts, at an estimated expense of 17 million euros.

In the midst of the salvage operation planning, the captain of the 'Luxury yacht Bayesian,' Captain James Cutfield, continues to maintain his silence, choosing not to disclose any information regarding the tragic incident.
