Eras Tour - Taylor Swift concerts: Police expect peaceful fans

Before the three concerts of US singer Taylor Swift in Gelsenkirchen, the city and Police are preparing for the influx of many fans. Approximately 60,000 fans with tickets are expected for each concert, as city spokesperson Markus Schwardtmann stated. In addition, there will be "Swifties" who traveled without tickets. "It's hard to estimate how many that is. In total, we're expecting around 200,000 people."

The city welcomes fans with many actions around the concerts. The highlight is an Open-Air party named "Taylor Town", which opens at the inner city location for all concert days. Near the party area, a 90 square meter artwork by the singer's fans is to be set up to amaze and photograph. The attractions in the city are also intended to prevent too many people without tickets from going to the stadium.

"Swifties" without tickets should not go to the arena

During previous concerts of Swift's "Eras Tour", thousands of people had gathered outside the stadiums to listen from afar. To prevent this, the city had already warned in advance that staying without a concert ticket at the arena was not allowed.

"We expect many strangers, which makes the situation a bit challenging," said a police spokeswoman. However, since Gelsenkirchen has already hosted several concerts by world stars like Ed Sheeran or the Rolling Stones, the police are well prepared. "We're counting on our proven safety concept to go into effect again."

Generally, the police do not expect major escalation around the concerts. "We expect a peaceful audience," the spokeswoman added. The "Swifties" are recommended to use the parking lot at the Gelsenkirchen Zoo and take the Shuttlebus or use public transportation to the Veltins-Arena instead.

VRR provides additional trains

The Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr provides twelve additional trains for the concert days to facilitate travel. A total of 40 trains leave from the Gelsenkirchen main station after each concert, as the city announced.

The US singer plays three shows in the Ruhrstadt (17., 18. and 19. July). Further shows in Germany follow in Hamburg and Munich.
