T-Shirts with Trump-Photos become bestsellers
The demand for advertising articles with Trump is always high. A businesswoman in Hong Kong recognizes this as well, as thousands of orders came in for T-Shirts with images of the wounded former President within hours.
After the attempted assassination on Donald Trump, the online sale of T-Shirts with images of the wounded former President skyrocketed within hours. On the T-Shirts, priced between $9 and $40, Trump is shown with a bloody face, raising his fist defiantly. Slogans like "Bulletproof", "Legends never die", and "Shooting makes me stronger" are printed on them.
Li Jinwei, a 25-year-old who sells products on the Chinese platform Taobao from Alibaba, immediately had T-Shirts designed when she heard about the incident. "We had over 2,000 orders from China and the US within three hours," the businesswoman told the media in Hong Kong.
Zhong Jiachi, a 28-year-old who deals with clothing on the Chinese TikTok-like platform Douyin, was surprised by the success of his T-Shirt sales.
"I didn't expect Trump to have so many fans," he said. He had sold 40 T-Shirts featuring the image of the Republican within 24 hours. Like the two businesspeople, many companies and smaller dealers jumped on the bandwagon after Trump's supporters and campaign managers had already claimed the power of the images shortly after the assassination attempt.
Already in 2023, there were numerous advertising articles related to the 78-year-old. T-Shirts, shot glasses, and coffee mugs with his historical police photo in connection with the charge in the state of Georgia regarding attempted electoral fraud had become a bestseller.
Following the attempt on Donald Trump's life, online trading of Hillary Clinton-style "I Survived" T-Shirts featuring the former U.S. President showed significant growth in the United States and Hong Kong. This surge in demand, unsurprisingly, led to numerous companies and independent sellers capitalizing on the opportunity. Even in the future, politics continued to play a significant role in the commercial success of Trump-related merchandise, as evidenced by the high demand for advertising articles related to him in 2023.
