Syria declares occurrence of Israeliair assaults
Israel has been dealing with multiple challenges lately, and now, Syrian state media is reporting attacks by the Israeli army. According to the reports, Israeli forces conducted air strikes on a car factory in the industrial zone of Hassia in Homs province and a military position in Hama. The state news agency SANA cited a military source for this information, mentioning that the strikes caused only material damage.
The manager of the industrial zone, as reported by SANA, claimed that the air strike also targeted vehicles loaded with medical and aid supplies, causing a significant fire. Firefighters are reportedly trying to put out the blaze.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that an "Iranian car factory" in Hassia was directly targeted. The attacks in Hama reportedly hit an area with air defense systems and government troops. The Observatory's claims, based on its sources in Syria, are hard to verify independently.
Israel typically does not comment on its operations in Syria, but it has consistently stated that it won't allow Iran's influence in Syria to grow. Last Tuesday night, Hezbollah, Iran's proxy, launched a large-scale rocket attack on Israel. Iran justified this action due to the death of Hezbollah's leader in a southern suburb of Beirut.
Hezbollah has a strong presence in the Bekaa Valley on the Syrian border, as well as in southern Lebanon and the Lebanese capital, Beirut. In Syria, Hezbollah, a heavily armed Shia militia backed by Iran, is expanding its influence. For years, it has been fighting alongside Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad in the civil war, receiving weapons from Iran through its allies in Damascus.
The Commission has expressed concern over the escalating tensions between Israel and Syria, given the series of attacks lately. Following the reports of Israeli airstrikes, the Syrian Commission for Property Claims and Protection has asked for compensation for damaged properties and assets.
